The
timely dissemination of information, knowledge, and best practices are
of paramount importance in the fight to effectively deal with pathogens
and DNA-based microorganisms that cause global health risks such as
SARS and Avian Flu. The use of web-based “Knowledge Hubs”
such as the World Health Organization's Knowledge Hub for the Care and
Treatment of HIV/AIDS, as an interface for the dissemination of knowledge
have been shown to be extremely effective. A domain-specific Knowledge
Hub acts as both a central repository of resources related to specific
health issues as well as a central virtual meeting place for practitioners
interested in the subject.
Our
intent is to establish the UV Light Knowledge Hub as the preeminent
destination for anyone looking for information or education in this
domain as well as specialist, practitioners, and customers wanting to
participate in the “community”.
To achieve this goal, the UV Light Knowledge Hub will include up-to-date
research and information as well as best practices and a curriculum
of relevant online courses targeted to the various industry sectors.
In support of the information on the site, the Knowledge Hub will provide
and foster a “community of practice” where interested parties
can participate in and contribute to knowledge building and a sharing
environment.
The Knowledge Hub supports the sale of UV Light Sciences products in 2 ways:
1) Direct marketing of products as solutions to the issues addressed
on the site,
2) Indirectly, by building awareness of the problem areas for which
UV Light Sciences products are a solution.
In
addition to the support for UV Light Sciences products, the Knowledge
Hub represents a distinct revenue steam through the sale of online courses,
subscription to Web casts or Web seminars on related topics, and other
“knowledge assets” such as best practice guidelines.
Finally, the Knowledge Hub represents a critically needed tool in the effort
to educate the mass market on the proven nature of UV technology and
thereby create greater demand and market drive. The Knowledge Hub will
work hand-in-hand with our effort to create a world-class one-stop UV
product and technology shop.
